  • Identifying opportunities to benefit from cost-sharing and economies of scale, with a particular emphasis on joint procurement, where appropriate.
  • Promoting a common European approach to library services, including conservation, copyright and collection access.
  • Creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and professional exchange.
  • Providing a forum for inter-library cooperation on projects and programmes.
  • Identifying a common European approach to the provision of EU documentation, EU publications and EU grey literature.
  • Providing professional development and training for staff of member institutions.
  • Offering expert advice to member institutions.
  • Co-operating with relevant innovative information programmes of the EU.
  • Providing a mechanism to formulate and communicate common positions of the member institutions.

A focal point of Eurolib’s annual programme is its biannual meetings, which provide a forum for exchange and collaboration. The Eurolib presidency is organised on a rotating basis, with presidents serving five-year terms. Membership is open to libraries and information services of the EU institutions and agencies. Libraries of other European organisations may also apply for membership.
